“SHE’S STARVED TO THE BRINK OF DEATH.”

The DxE Colorado Open Rescue team entered a massive cage-free farm and found widespread starvation, disease, and death. Hens were packed into filthy, industrial sheds where access to food was a constant struggle. Hundreds of hens would starve to death every single week.

Annie's Story

Annie's Story

Deprived of Food

Annie was weaker than her sisters, and she couldn’t compete in the fight for food. Eventually, she had to resort to eating from the feces-covered ground.

Left to Die

Frail and diseased, her beak was sealed shut by dried feces, and she languished without water for days.

Saved from the Brink

Annie was about to join countless other birds who die inside Morning Fresh, but she was one in a million who would be saved.
